The Challenge Barcelona Triathlon 21, which will take place on the weekend of October 25th and 26th, will gather around 25 participants, an increase of over 21,900 people compared to the previous edition, and will feature the return of the Olympic distance as the main novelty. This format, which has sold out all available spots, combines 23,800 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling, and 10 kilometers of running. According to an announcement on Wednesday, the recovery of this sport is due to «the demand from the triathlon community» and the commitment of the race to offer challenges adapted to both popular athletes and experienced triathletes. The middle distance (1,900 meters of swimming, 88 kilometers of cycling, and 21 kilometers of running) will become consolidated as the reference test for the weekend, with a renewed cycling route that will pass through Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona) on entirely closed roads. The organization has worked to improve the course and make it more competitive and visually appealing to consolidate the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon as one of the standout medium-distance tests on the European calendar. The Challenge Barcelona Triathlon will award 25,000 euros in prizes for the PRO medium-distance category, with awards for the top six male and female finishers, and 1,900 euros for the winner and runner-up. The competition will also include a sprint distance test (750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling, and 10 kilometers on foot), another aimed at young people aged 12 to 17 (300m, 7km, and 1.5km), an aquathlon (750m of swimming and 5km on foot), and another 1,900 or 3,800-meter swimming test.
This modality, which has filled up all available spots, combines 1,500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling, and 10 kilometers of running
